Intro

What’s up? So over 2 years ago while in quarantine due to the Covid-19 pandemic, I was spinning a record while drinking some Elysian Space Dust IPA. Obviously a little tipsy, I came to the realization that with the advent of online life, and having the whole internet in a device that can be carried in our pocket, we have moved away from the “good old days” of how we consume music.

Gone are the days of going to a record store, flipping through the cassettes and CDs (yes, I’m a child of the 80’s), and picking something up based on the cover alone. Then the act of rushing home, slicing open that plastic, putting it in the player, unfolding the liner notes, and just listening. Over and over.

The music industry changed with streaming, and playlist-oriented consumption. Recently, the resurrection of vinyl has changed that a bit, at least for me. Yes, I still stream new bands to see if I’d like to purchase it on vinyl, so I admit I’m a bit hypocritical.

But the fact remains, in this fast-paced world today, listening to music has been a background activity while doing something else that keeps our monkey brains stimulated.

The idea of Sunday Morning Sessions is to just sit down, drop the needle on a record (or hell, hit play on Spotify), and just LISTEN.

You are welcome to join in, and share what you are spinning or streaming by leaving a comment.
